Your Mac, within reach.
Connection help for AetherDesk on iPhone and iPad.
Requires iOS or iPadOS 17 or later and an authorized Mac with Screen Sharing enabled. Your device must be able to reach the Mac over your network.
Make your first connection
- On your Mac, enable Screen Sharing in System Settings and allow access only for authorized users.
- Connect your iPhone or iPad to a trusted network that can reach the Mac.
- Add a Mac in AetherDesk. Enter its connection name, host address, port and username, then provide the remote account password.
- If iOS asks for local network access, allow it when connecting to your Mac. Saving the password is optional.
- Open the saved connection. Use View Only if you want to view without sending input.
AetherDesk does not set up a VPN or configure public access. Do not expose your Mac's screen-sharing port to the public internet just to troubleshoot a connection.
Touch controls
- Move one finger to control the pointer and navigate the desktop viewport.
- Tap to click at the current pointer; press and hold to drag.
- Pinch with two fingers to change the local zoom level.
- Swipe with three fingers to scroll content on the remote Mac.
- Use the session controls for the keyboard and right-click actions.
Troubleshooting
I cannot connect to my Mac
Check the address, port, network route, Screen Sharing setting and remote account permissions. Check whether iOS local network permission is enabled for AetherDesk. Never send your password to support.
Typing or pasted text is different on the Mac
The remote keyboard layout and input source can affect text. Check the Mac's active input source and the session's keyboard mode. The current text-sending helper handles ASCII text one line at a time; it is not full bidirectional clipboard synchronization or file transfer.
The remote picture stops updating
Note whether the Mac itself responds and whether moving the viewport changes the picture. Include the app version, both operating system versions and the steps that caused the issue. Email support with the app version, operating system versions, and steps to reproduce. Diagnostic report export is not available in the public App Store build.
Contact support
Use the LongX AI Home contact link and include “AetherDesk” in the subject.
Include your app version, iOS/iPadOS and macOS versions, and a short description of what happened. Do not include passwords, private host details or confidential screenshots.
